    How do you
    A) post an avatar
    b) show your city under your username on your posts

    Go under "My GIRS" tab at the top of the page, then click on "My account/Profile". You should be able to edit things there......

    Yeah, I've looked all through that an can't find a place where you can enter what goes in under your name, and I've tried a bunch of combo. I can't seem to upload my avatar either, I keep getting errors.

    For your profile picture, hover over "My Girs," then click on "My Account/Profile." It'll bring up your profile, on the left hand side will be your current profile pic, below it, it says "Edit Profile Picture," click on that.

    It's been a long time since I changed my signature under my posts or my location by my pic, I'll see if I can mess around and find it for you.

    You can always send JB a message, he's the web master, he'll know how.

    Ok, for your signature under your posts: Hover over "My GIRS," then click on "My Account/Profile." It'll bring up your profile. By the "My Profile," "Edit Profile," "My Account," "My Settings," click on "My Settings." It will bring up your profile preferences. There will be the options of "Profile Preferences," "Journal Features," "Notifications," "Options for Albums," "Social Tools," and "Forum Preferences." Click on "Forum Preferences," then in the "Signature" box, type what you want to have posted at the bottom of all of your posts.

    It's also helpful to change the "Items per page" in the "Forum Preferences" to 100 so you don't have to navigate through different pages on busy threads. It will display 100 posts in each thread before it gives you a second page to view.

    At the top right of this page you will see where it says: Forums, My Profile, My Settings, Search, Members. Click on 'My Settings', at the bottom of that page click on 'Edit' and you can change your sig and upload an avatar.

    As you can see in my posts, I do have the footer down. I am talking about right below your username and above the blue/grey blocks. Adam, you have "Cedar Falls, IA" shown. How do I get my location to show up!? This is what I am trying to figure out and cannot for the life of me find the setting.

    As for the picture, I finally figured that out and it was silly. I'll post it here for anyone else having the problem:

    Also, under "edit profile" when I try to upload a profile picture, is gives me this error:

    "The image you are uploading is either too large or isn't a valid format"

    The picture is a .jpeg file and is 260x209 and 12 KB. I figured out that '.jpeg' is not recognized, but '.jpg' is. However, I uploaded my picture under 'edit profile' and under 'My Profile' the pic is still generic. There's a link for 'Edit Profile Picture' which brings me to a page to upload a pic...and the pic I uploaded it right there!

    I looked on some of my posts, and it was still generic. I guess it took either a few minutes to process or a shift+F5 / full refresh but it is now finally showing up.

    Still can't figure out the location-under-name one.

    I think that would be helpful as I see many people in the buy/sell forums asking "where are you located" and many don't respond. Maybe people just don't want others to know where they are !!

    Don't go to 'My GIRS', use the 'my settings' link at the top of this page. Seriously, would I kid?

    I got the avatar to work...just changed the extension from jpeg to jpg...

    Thanks for the pointer to the 'My Settings' link. Who would have thought that those 2 links actually go to 2 DIFFERENT PLACES with different information?!?!?!?

    Reference the message above yours...different info in a different place under the same link title...there are 2 different 'My Settings' links, one has a spot for that info and the other doesn't.
