    This hits pretty hard here...
Federal lawmakers are voting not to extend jobless benefits to the
nation's workers. Thursday, 57 senators said "no" to ending a Republican
filibuster for the unemployment bill, effectively killing the measure.

My family and I were relying on unemployment benefits to help pay our bills while I am going to school full time.  I was just given an extension and now they decided to take it away without any notice.  What a joke!

I read that the other day. Hopefully you can continue going to school or find a job.

Well the good thing is I think I have a job lined up with John Deere.  The problem is I need to get through 2.5 years of school to get it.  We can survive off of student loans for the time being.
The part that gets me is they don't even give you warning.  You think you "X" amount of dollars coming in each week, and then they just cut you off without notice because some yahoo's in Washington decided to "trim the fat", the fat being me.  The only notice I got is the overdraft fee from my bank about the bad check I just wrote at Wal-Mart buying diapers.
I certainly appreciate the system helping me through but some warning would have been appreciated.
Apparently, I am one of the lucky ones who is currently in "limbo" as they say at the unemployment office.  Being I am a full time student I may still be eligible for benefits, the problem is there is only one person handling all of those claims and is severely backed up so it may be months before I see another dime.
    What a mess.

Pretty sure neither of those options will even come close to paying my mortgage/bills.

I am in the same boat. The only problem is I need to go upstream and there aint no paddles here! I have had to temporaily take my tank down and put a bunch of other stuff on hold. Working temp jobs until I can get through everything. Best of luck to you, Shaun

I am not shocked. They are doing cuts all around the board. Usually the cuts are to schools as well. Anywhere you cut money, SOMEONE is effected. I am in Vet school working a full time job. Join the crowd. Maybe now you see why I have been trying to save money with electrical bills for cooling the house! /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/wink.gif

I love it. If your unfortunate enough to be unemployed, in a economy that has very few jobs available. So the only option is going back to school to learn sometime. Now they say you can only do that for 26 week. Talk about helping the people.
