Hello All.  I'm starting to stock my new tank in a little bit, and something I'm interested in putting into it a harem of about 6 Bartlett's Anthias into it.  My little guide book tells me one male and five females, but I'm not sure how to go about getting that.  Is there anywhere online that will sell me sexed anthias?
    Thanks,Michael

I just bought two Bartlett's anthers. I think they're both males, but they're getting along just fine. I'd like to hear what others think about these too.

Im not sure how to sex them but the biggest and most colorful one's are generally the male. These fish are hermaphroditic, if you have a group and the male die's the most dominant female will change sex into a male. I have four in my tank they are great fish. The big thing with anthias is to acclimate them very slowly. Also they tend to be jumper's. I also would try to add them all at the same time.

While I don't have personal experience with them, Bartlett's will supposedly all turn male on you over time and then become aggressive with eachother and not really hang out anymore.

Live aquaria may sell them sexed. We bought 9 female lyretail anthias and are waiting for one to change. They sell many of their anthias sexed but I'm not sure bartletts are one of those.

    Has anyone used this site,
    http://www.bluezooaquatics.com/productDetail.asp?did=1&pid=291&cid=10
    ?
They are selling sexed Bartletts... I have had very good luck with Live Aquaria, but they are only selling non-sexed.

I have used Bluezoo before mostly for a CuC but i did get some fish. out of the 7 i purchased 2 were doa and i still have the rest. but they come pretty small.

Like has been said, they are hermaphrodites. meaning you just get a bunch of females and the dominant one will turn male much like clownfish turning female.
