Tip How to post a Facebook Video

Uploading videos directly to any forum is extremely server intensive, so it's generally not feasible (for any forum, or any forum software)

However, there is a way to embed a Facebook video into a post. Here is a step-by-step guide. This example shows how to do it via a PC. I'll try to show how to do it by phone also.

The key is finding the direct HTML link - once you have that, it's just as simple as pasting that link into the Media box. But you can't simply post the URL of the Facebook post that contains the video - you need the actual link directly to the video. Facebook makes this available, but it's not intuitively obvious.

First, find the post on any timeline. Look for the little down-arrow in the upper-right corner and click it.

In the drop down menu, click "Embed"

In the overlay pop-up, do NOT select the "iframe" link - this will not work. Instead, select "Advanced Settings"

In the next window, find the "URL of video". This is what you want.

Highlight the text (double click it) and then copy it (right-click, select "Copy")

Now, start a new thread (or go to your thread you are composing) and locate the Media button on the editor toolbar, and click it

In the overlay, paste the link into the "Enter media URL" field (ctrl+V or right-click & Paste) then click "Embed"

In the editor, you will see the BB code for the embedded video. It is good "form" to leave this on it's own line, otherwise the video will be "bumped" by the text of the post

That's it! Compose your post, and the video will be embedded within the post. Here is a Preview of what the above post will look like

Turns out, this link is easier to get to on mobile (at least, on the iOS app)

Click "Share"

Then click "Copy link"

This will copy the URL to your clipboard. Then just paste it into the same "Enter media URL" field and proceed.
