Here is an easy way I have found to add photos to threads in the GIRS forums without having to upload them to photobucket or another photo hosting site. This may only work on actual computers. I have not tried this from mobile devices.

    1. Use the "Add Reply" button to access all the features.

    2. At the bottom you will see an option for "Attachments". You must click on the arrow itself to upload attachments.

    3. Click "Choose File". You can only select 1 file at a time here, but you can keep clicking this multiple times to insert multiple photos all in 1 post.

    4. It may take awhile for the photo to upload, so be patient and let it sit for a few seconds. Once the file is uploaded you can choose which files you want to insert. Using the "thumbnail" option works very well if you haven't resized the photo already.

Tip: Always "Preview" your post before you submit it to make sure it displays correctly.

The problem is many people use phones or tablets. Before the update last winter i uploaded pics from my ipad exactly like your illustrations show, after the update, the only quick and easy way is tapatalk, but even that lacks full functionality.

  3. same issue i have! i can only use my phone, and tab. i finally went to photobucket but that i struggled with also. hopefully we can get something figured out in the future to make this easier for those of us that are always on the go!

I click "add reply" also, but then I get the link from photobucket. I click the picture icon that shows at the top after clicking "add reply" and paste the link in there. I haven't tried it from a phone or tablet though.

Edit: Well it appears I can add photos from my phone as an attachment using the way Lee describes above, but I'm not able to embed pictures in the thread the way I can on a computer.

No doubt it is easy from a desktop computer, it would be less frustrating for us tablet users if the functionality was not removed durring the "upgrade" (so we know it can be done) Im not trying to stir the pot, but before we worry about giving the clubs money away as donations maybe we should invest in ourselves and hire somebody to restore the site to full functionality for all users. Im sick of seeing sale/tank threads with no pics because it is such a PITA to post from the hardware many of us use.

Im not knocking the work done at no charge by the member, there were many improvements. It just seems like the upgrade eliminated the most used feature for myself and many other users.

JB would know better, but I do not think its an issue of finding someone else to fix the problem. I think its more that the software itself is not built to support mobile devices and tablets at this time. With JB actually a part of the development team for the software I don't think there is anyone better. The fact the he does it for free is just icing on the cake.

I'm sure making it more mobile friendly is a top priority, but one that is not going to come fast or easy.

I posted pic last night from my phone by following the instuctions above. Very easy I think. I always heard it was hard so I never did it till last night but it was actually easy in my mind.

When adding from Tapatalk it is easier to take the picture as you are created the reply or thread. That is how I added the picture of my new skimmer in my 135G Rebuild Thread. I have an Android phone though so not sure about the iOS devices. They seem to have more issues than anything these days.

Another way is to use dropbox. I haven't fully tested it yet but I will over the weekend.

P.S. I know there are quarks in the software for the forum. Get use to it. All software has phases of issues after going into production as teams that are responsible for additional modules tend to run behind. JB is our webmaster and is maintaining this site / forum on his own free time and free will. I thank him for his time and effort. It is a giant value that he is not just our web dev but also an active member of the club.

The above posted with instructions above with photo taken directly from ipad.. No need for shutterfly or Facebook or anything. This used to not work, but now it does, awesome. I am sorry for being critical.

From tapatalk you just use the icon of a camera to add a pic. [IMG]
