The thing I don't like is their explanation just didn't and doesn't make sense. I don't think even with a language barrier it should be that confusing. It looks like they are trying to blame something else other than we messed up. Perhaps the most telling is they don't want to you post the email publically, aka "unauthorized publication".

Did you see a mod removed the email from reef2reef?

    as Randy said:

KCl is 52.4% potassium by weight.
K2SO4 is 44.9% potassium by weight.

They are (or should be) weighing out the chemicals based on the above.

They said they switch the additions depending on what K formula is being used, but you can see they are very close! 52 vs 44% so at most this should be 8% over/under the target values.

Quite frankly I think they were trying to explain away the reason they only added half the values and it's flat out wrong. When called out they didn't want the info public. The scary part is if they are really adding twice the weight of KCl or half the weight of K2SO4 then their chemistry is flat out wrong which might be the case they don't want their response posted. I don't think it's a language barrier issue...

Just for an example. Lets say I am making a salt mix. I want 1kg of potassium in the mix. Using KCL I would add 1.8kg to get that 1KG. (52% of 1.8KG). Do the same with K2SO4 and you add 2.2KG to get that 1kg potassium.

They are trying to say that their system made a mistake and thought they were dosing K2CL (which doesn't exist) and what is what the mistake is, but I find it unlikely someone would make a system that would distribute weights based on the individual ions in the dissociated molecules rather than the easy chemical formulas. Really they just screwed up and only added half the amount they should have and tried to make it sound fancy IMO and got called out by the good doctor.

It's just salt, with so many good brands I will sure not bother with this one again.

As long as the company made an effort to correct the situation and works to make sure their product is not compromised in the future I see no reason to change. Having said that, I don't use thier product, this does not make me inclined to start.
