Recently I set up a 12g nano. I didn't want to buy a ro unit since its only 12 gallons. I have been using hyvees water at their dispenser they have. Next to the dispenser they have a brocher and so I grabbed one. Here is a link to a pic of the brocher maybe it's clear enough to read. But I have been having great water quality using their water, I recomend it to anyone without a unit.

Also might I add its only .79 a gallon. And if you reuse your jugs it's half off

You might want to check the water for tds. I have had customers that tested it and walmarts and said it read at about 80ppm

I use wal-marts and hyvee's water for about a year now with no problems. I tested for nitrates before I started using it and was 0. Walmart's water has a log next to it with TDS readings for each month so they know when to replace. For 30 something cents a gallon it's a good deal on my biocube.

I've also been using the Hy-Vee water. Got some 5 gallon jugs from Walmart. Costs $3.90 for 10 gallons...Last time I tested it I got a 006 reading. Can that very little amount actually hurt?

Yeah, at the LFS here in Iowa City RO/DI is, like, 56 cents a gallon. A TDS meter is less than $15. If it is reading 80, I'd save money and go to the LFS.

I believe RODI water at Coralville Bay is only $0.25/gallon.

I used Hy-Vee water exclusively before I got my RO unit as well...never had problem either!

I have used many of these machines at Dahl's, Hy-Vee, and Wal-Mart. I recommend testing the TDS regularly and alerting staff if it is too high. Generally not a big deal, I've used on occasion in a pinch when needed without testing but on regular use I would test.

The Grimes Wal-mart had 3ppm when it was a new store. The Jordan Creek wal-mart at the same time was over 100 until I complained. Didn't go back to that one as it didn't change 2 weeks later.

Take in 5 gallon buckets and fill for .37-.39 per gallon. Watch them try to scan the orange Home Depot containers and then looked puzzled, it's fun.

Wal-Mart CR Blairsferry usually tested pretty good for me when i first started filling up there with rodi a yr+ ago (3-6), not sure of the reading now but corals are happy and like mentioned above they keep a record on the machine when it was serviced.

It is "fun" to go to wall mart with old Ecolab (cleaned, safe, and used for 10+ yrs) and Lowes Buckets and they are very conflustered, the dragging a minimum of 6 5 gallon buckets for filling once a week or two, not so much. I like the reaction i get when they say, I dont think those ecolab buckets are safe to drink from, and I jokingly say Its for my kids, usually gets a priceless reaction!... Then I explain im joking and what they are for so I dont get a visit from mr officer
