First my skimmer emptied my sump, don't know why but it did.  So I am looking at skimmers online..  Then I remember I won an all in one filter/skimmer at MACNA.  So I think problem solved, ha ha ha, think again.  Problem worse if that was possible.
So I put the overflow box on the back of my tank, thinking that I can run this and my sump at the same time.  Man was I wrong, the overflow box was lower than my overflows in the tank.  So I now am once again draining my sump onto my floor (carpet at that).   Maybe the reason is wrong I cannot think of why else it would do this..
Question now can I run this filter out of my sump and still be safe from draining my tank?
Oh wait, I forgot to mention that my Powder brown tang disappeared, possibly jumping out of the tank.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, this has been a bad week for me in the hobby..

did you have the skimmer skimming to much?
when I do my water change I use my skimmer to pump the water out of my tank to the drain by turning it 1/2 of a turn.

Sorry to hear about your issues. Are you draining your skimmate to a container outside of your skimmer? Is that how the water is draining onto the floor? Sounds like you're not running a reef ready/drilled tank, is that right? I'm not really sure what your tank is configured like...traditional sump in stand/display on top? Please send more details.

Also, I had a powder blue disappear in my tank a little over a year ago. I never saw it again...then weeks later, I found a few ribs from it under a rock. Not sure why it died...just happens sometimes. I hope you find it.

I have a 75 gallon drilled with 2 holes in the back plumbed to a sump (40 gallon breeder) below. The skimmer airline was plugged I believe, it seems to be working for now. There is no adjustment on the skimmer. I really just need to get a new skimmer and rethink my set up. So for a quick fix, I thought I could add the Rapid Pro wet/dry filter to the system mainly to use the skimmer. However when I started it up, it was overfilling and spilled out everywhere. I am not sure why though. Hopefully the skimmer is fixed for now.

Any suggestions on a skimmer for a 75 gallon, would like to oversize in case I upgrade to a 125.

I tried the easy way out which seemed to cost me in the end. Lesson learned!!

    Thanks for the input.
