Haven't seen my scooter (dragonette) for a couple of days and that's highly unusual, especially when he didn't appear to eat bloodworms. Just got done looking up the lifespan of them in captivity and the general consensus was 3-7 years. I had to have him at least 3 years, and he wasn't real small when I got him from LA, so I don't know his age at that time. I still have the mandarin, had him for about the same time period. How long has anyone else kept them? /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/crying.gif

sorry for your loss, I had a spiny box fish get stuck to my mp10 last week and he died two days later in the hospital tank. I've had my scooter for almost two years now and he had sunken belly. I later read about how they are underfed when held and so on. I run two refugiums on my tank so I have plenty of pods to go around he is fat now.

3 years is a good haul for a delicate fish like them. sounds like your doing everything right especially if you have had a mandarin just as long.

Well now I'm happy and feel like crap at the same time!!! Went downstairs to change out the fillter sock and looked inside as I always do and there was Scooter! At first I though he was dead but then he was moving pretty quickly. I dumped him with the water into a bucket and brought him back upstairs to the DT. Checked a couple minutes later and he's looking for food! Gosh I hope he pulls thru. I should have checked there sooner but I never ever would have thought he could make it thru the sieve cover on the overflow. Modifications will follow!...
