I don't know what's wrong with me. I just keep watching episode after episode. From a fishguy standpoint, I learn things. As a musician and recording engineer the music drives me nuts.

Jim's a pretty cool guy. He is always helpful and answering everyone's questions on YouTube (even the trolls lol).

Fun fact: he is neighbors with my best friend's parents.

I made friends with him at MACNA and have kept in communication with him since. He is pretty cool. I'm looking forward to seeing one of his future episodes in particular, which he just started filming

I've learned quite a bit from LA Fishguys! Mark Callahan, Mr. Saltwater Tank, is also very informative. Both are waaaay better than the guys on "Tanked." Animal Planet turned a potentially awesome show into an aquarium version of American Chopper. Big time bummer. Call me a pessimist, but Tanked is just going to lure amateurs into the hobby so they can really mess stuff up, just to kill lots of livestock and get rid of their tanks a month later. But, one could look at it as an opportunity for cheap, used equipment or possibly one where they can get more frags!!! I'm all about frags! LOL just thought I'd throw in my two cents!! /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif

I look at Tanked as something different than LA Fishguys and Mr. SWTank. It's all about the build, while those two channels are more about the hobby and maintenance.

The current episode of LA Fishguys is pretty cool. I think it took a lot of balls for JIm to show his own tank in such dire straights and walk through cleaning it up and upgrading. Interested to see how the algae scrubber works for him.

You make a good point! I guess I didn't think of it that way! /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/tongue.gif

I'm going to have to watch this episode with the algae scrubber. I've been toying with the idea for a while now. Granted, I don't have an algae problem, but anything to help get crystal clear water is a plus!

Let me ask a question; when it comes to Mr. SWTank, does anyone else get kind of annoyed at the who "Tank Personality" thing? Is there a group of folks it helps significantly?

I guess I kind of feel like he hits it too hard and too often and it makes the show seem more like a promo for him than focused on the hobby.

I think the "Tank Personality" thing is a promo deal. Out of curiosity, I checked it out. It seems like by knowing your "Tank Personality," you can purchase his aquarium guides accordingly. He gears them individually toward different types of people, whether they're die-hards or newbies. He does tend to hit it a little too hard though! lol

The thing is, I went to try and buy one of the guides; they're not for sale. I emailed to asked why and when they would be and got a form email in response that didn't answer my question. Kinda lame.

Wow, that's really lame!!! I'll stick with watching LA Fish Guys and the Bulk Reef Supply guys. I forgot about BRS earlier.
