While I dont have ICH, I was told today something intresting so thought I would ask.

I was on a Facebook page and was told by a gentleman from Florida that he feeds garlic in his food to help cut the risk of ICH in his system. Can you do that with every feeding?

I add fresh pressed garlic cloves to ALL my food, as I make my own mash. My fish don't have ich at all, and eat it readily without a problem.

Thats going to be another post...how to make your own food...Cant wait for our Region to be formed so we can do these things.Does feeding the garlic really help and if so, wouldnt that cause a resistance to ich over time? or am I just over thinking it?

I always thought garlic was an appetite stimulant more than anything, but there may also be some type of immune system boosting thing going on with it as well.

I've always used garlic as an appetite stimulate as well blackx-runner... garlic has been rumored to claim a boost in immune system.

But, yeah... on occasion I forget to add it one of my mash batches.. but for the most part if not pretty much all the time- I do add it.

sparticus- I've posted several lists of what I put in, but could certainly give you more details if you should want them.
Here is one of the latest posts listing the mashes I have/ make

The goal or theory behind it is that a healthy fish with a good immune system is less prone to ich. Or less susceptible to getting an infection. Ich or not.
