I'm trading my 72 gallon for a 125 gallon RR aquarium soon and I'll be
running bare bottom on this tank. I've asked the guy I'm trading with a
coupe times, but don't want to keep pestering him, so I was hoping
someone here could quick measure theirs.

I'll need to know the inside dimensions so I can get the acrylic sheet
cut for the lengh and width, and then when I get the tank I can get the
overflows measured out. Does anyone know the inside dimensions to a
standard 125 gallon? The outside is 72" x 18", so it should be about
71.5" x 17.5", but I'd like to be exact. I want to have my dad cut down
the bottom edges so it sits on top of the tank's silicone edge, while
still fitting tightly to the walls.

    Thanks for any help.

IMO, I would advise you to re-think this a little. If it were me, I would allow *at least* a 1/4" gap on all sides. This can be filled with silicone and will not be noticeable, but it really allows you to get it situated the way you want and fit to hug the bottom glass.. If you put the acrylic on the tank silicone edges, you will have a slightly concave bottom as the edges will ride higher than the glass bottom. Also, at 6', you're probably going to have to do at least two pieces, but you may even want to consider three pieces. Jason G recommended this to me on the 90 when I was installing the bottom. I didn't listen to him, but later wish I had. It was very cumbersome to install it in one piece. On my 120, I'm installing the bare bottom inserts now. I left 1/4" on all sides and it's just right. I'm very happy with the way it fits. For what it's worth...

Yea I was thinking I could router out the bottom corner to make it hover over the silicone, but the more I think about it, the more I think it's not worth the effort. I wanted to have it all one piece because I'll already be cutting out the center braces and putting in one thicker/wider clear acrylic center brace so it's not blocking any light from the halides, so I think it shouldn't be a problem that it's one piece.

If no one gets me the measurements I might just tell my dad to cut it 71" x 17", maybe a hair under 17". Does that sound about right?
