sell all your coral then buy the non reef safe fish you always wanted. then when you get bored with that then go back to reef

I think everyone pretty much said it. Change it up, and do something different. Maybe do a minimalist system that doesn't require quite the attention and maintenance of a full blown reef. Go for some exotic fish or corals. If you want a challenge go that route. If you want to step back and enjoy the tank then go simple.

    Thanks everyone for the input.

I think that if I can get to the point where I have an empty tank, I will have no problem getting inspired. My biggest problem right now is dealing with the current contents of my display tank.

Honestly, I want it all gone so I can start over with new/less/different rock, just not sure how to go about getting that done without spending a lot of money and/or killing everything in the big tank.

I just got back from our CR/IC meeting about natural filtration, and it's peaked my interest in some changes to how my system works. Maybe that will be the catalyst to get me involved again.

I'm making progress!   My Nano has water in it!
I added a piece of live rock from my refugium to help kick things off, but it's only temporary.   I'm going to build a nice solid rock structure using epoxy and clear tubing.   Gonna add about about and inch of fiji pink sand as well.   I'd prefer bare bottom in my main tank, but I don't like the look of it in the nano.
The next thing I'm going to do is start building my tower of terror denitrafication.    This will consist of 4 stacked salt buckets each 2/3 full of sand.   Water will be pumped into the top bucket and will traverse it's way down to the bottom bucket and back into my sump.     The nice think about this system is that 1/4 of the sand bed can be replaced/cleaned per year to help keep the DSB operating to it's full potential.

Keep us updated on that tower of terror and how you are plumbing it. Interested to see how that works out for you.

    Making more progress!

Cleaned out my refugium yesterday (it was completely overgrown with caulerpa), cleaned my skimmer, changed all the filters/di in my RO/DI unit, got my CA reactor working again and did a good sized water change.

The next thing I need to do is get my frag tank under control. Many of the frags have progressed into "mini-colonies" during my time away. A few of them need a bit of TLC, but for the most part things look really good. Just need to reorganize a bit and do some additional fragging.

I'm pretty much out of room in the frag tank right now, so I might set aside a Sunday in a few weeks where people can come and do some shopping if they want.

My wife's Nano is also continues to take shape. I just realized I have my old AC3 sitting around still, so I'm going to put that back into service on her Nano. Just need a new pH probe. Something tells me a DIY upgrade from CFL to LED is in it's future!
