    Hi everyone,
I am pleased to introduce our newest sponsor midwestfrags.com.
Here is a link to their site www.midwestfrags.com.
They are located in Kansas City so it should make for some very convenient shipping.
    Thanks
    Craig

Thank you Craig and Thank you GIRS!
We have been selling corals since 2004 and been on-line since 2008. We specialize in hard-to-find SPS corals, Zoanthid's and Palythoa's. Every once in awhile we'll have a few LPS too[IMG]  My son Matt and I are co-Owners of MWF. Matt is a college student at Mid-America Nazarene in Olathe, KS and I have a full-time job besides this. I am currently President of the Kansas City Reef Assocition.
We are slowly but surely getting our name out there and welcome the opportunity that sponsoring this forum represents.
I really think our proximity will allow us many advantages like:
    Easy group buys
A GIRS roadtrip to MidWest Frags
A MidWest Frags roadtrip to GIRS functions
A special discounted shipping rate for GIRS members only
And probably more I can't think of right now.
I'll get our avatar and link set up soon, but in the meantime please visit our little site and tell us what you think.
    Go to: www.midwestfrags.com
We have added over 75 items to our WYSIWYG section just a couple days ago.
We are active when we sponsor forums and always post sales, new items etc.
So --- to get things started --- all orders for the month of February will be 20% off to GIRS Members only.
    Thank you,
    Marvin and Matt

    Ordering from MidWest Frags
We do not have a shopping cart for several reasons which I'll explain...
We want to have direct contact with the customer. Matt and I have purchased alot of the items you see on our site from other on-line vendors and have become frustrated to find that either they don't have the item, or the item is fragged and shipped so quickly that the DOA rate was unacceptable. That's why WYSIWYG is so popular -- it is presumably healed and healthy.
So let's say you want to order 3 polyps of Candy Apple Reds Palythoa's. You would email us at customerservice@midwestfrags with that information. I would email you back and say we currently have a 2 polyp frag that was fragged two-weeks ago or we could frag the 3 polyps for you. If we frag the the 3 polyps for you we will not ship the item until all 3 polyps are fully open and healthy. This may take just a few hours, it may take a day or two or they may never open. At that point, we start the process over. We will not ask for payment of the frag you requested until it is ready to ship.
It's a little bit time consuming to conduct business this way. We have found a lot of customers appreciate this process and keep coming back.

Just vistited the site. Looks awesome. What kind of lights are you growing your corals from? Or at least taking the pics from?

    Josh,

We use 20K ReefLux bulbs on all of our tanks. But we take all of our pictures using a Nikon D300 camera. The camera is set to take all pictures as if it were under 10K lighting. So there is very little post processing done to our pictures. They all provide an accurate depiction of what the color of the corals actually are.

If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask.

    Marvin & Matt

Hey I noticed in your pics you use alot of egg crate.

Do you have any problems with algae blooms or do you treat them first?

They do go through a "curing" process -- maybe "leeching" is a better term.
We also have lots and lots of Yellow Tangs/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif

Just curious if you have any pictures of your setup and would be willing to share pictures. Hoping we can make a trip down that way sometime...who wants to road trip?
