   Just wondering if inverts (peppermint shrimp) are a good barometer of the tank? water quality?
   Things have been going pretty good with my tank so I dropped in(after acclimating them) two peppermints last week.   After at least  one of them molted(read that that is very common after a change in environment) and watching them swaying from the roof's of their little caves last night they seemed happy! Or not?

   If they've gone a week and are still fine then I think you'll be okay. When I've had them die on me it's usually the first day or two. I've also found that it depends on where you get them, so that they are healthier to start.
