Is it too late to dip my corals that I got at MACNA?

I got four corals at MACNA. When I got home my I found that my QT tank cycled on me and I didn't feel comfortable putting them in there overnight.
Instead, I put them on a frag rack and put them in my display tank. I have no idea why I didn't dip them. I guess I was a little buzzed still from the reception and the cloudy QT tank threw off my thought process.
Anyways....the new frags have been separated from my other coral in the display via a frag rack. If I have pests on the new frags, will they enter the water column? Will they migrate to my main tank coral if there is no 'land bridge' to get them there? Can I assume the pests have stayed put on the frags they came on?
Is dipping at this point too late to do any good?

The answer is yes, no, and maybe. Many times parasites will stay on the piece they are infecting and are slow to move about. It certainly doesn't hurt to try. I know I found some AEFW's after dipping when I got home, I wasn't sure at first so I whipped out my microscope and sure enough! So I have dipped a couple pieces twice now. Good luck Jim!

Would I be able to see any pests with my portal?

I have two acan frags and two zoa frags. Neither seem to have anything crawling on them.

I wish I would have dipped. I feel like I felt that time in college when I thought I got my girlfriend pregnant and the dip test proved unreliable.

Probably not with the protal, the bugs I've found are only as large as 1mm. There were some other amphipods and harmless copepods in there too, but those were no big deal. Lol love the analogy, I know the feeling! haha I think you'll be alright Jim, just throw em in a bucket and dip em now and cross your fingers! Got any wrasses? IDK what species might eat nasty flat worms but I know they're all grazers and are usually open to munching any little wigglies!

Andy & PotRoast- FWIW, what did you get for corals, and where/who? I dipped all of mine, but now i am second guessing. I got some from ORA, Captains , A&M, HighDef, Reefkoi. I didn't look too closely at the straglers left in the buckets from treating and acclimating. I have been using CoralRx on my corals for more than a year, and seemingly haven't seen any ill-mannered critters...yet.

What is it everyone uses to dip their corals in?  Also, would this kill a Maxi-mini Anemone that is hitch-hiking on a frag, like what we found after MACNA?

    DO NOT dip nems!

good luck, I found 2 zoantid eating nudibranchs on one of my frags (from Paul's corals) and someone else found flatworms.

Thanks for the tip.  Having found the Maxi-mini, I'm glad we didn't dip our new frags... this time.  We'll definitely look into this for future additions to the tank.  Thanks again!

Not to rat anyone out but, I found my bugs on a couple of frags that I got from ReefKoi, I'm almost positive it was just an acro that it came in on, it was just their stuff in that bucket. I went through the bottom of my dipping buckets and found 5 different types of bugs, but only one that I could identify as an AEFW. Two were just amphipod and copepods, the others from what I can tell are harmless.
    No biggie though, **** happens
