Long story short... My step dad just had a kidney transplant. Somehow my mom was a match and she donated her kidney...was a success and they'll be home this week to start recovery... I decided to surprise them and I ordered a new LED light for their tank for them...I need glass tops tho...anyone got any cheap or willing to donate for them? Thanks. 515-478-0988.

Mike - I have the glass components for the glass top for my 75 gal - which I will never use. Does the 55 gal have a 48" length? If so, if you wanted to cut the glass to fit, you would be welcome to glass tops. The glass top is in 2 components for each 1/2 length of the tank. One is 5" wide and the other is 9" wide.

Awesome. Ya its a 4 ft 55 gallon. I'd think cutting a few inches off would make them work...are they the kind that have handles?

I stopped by tonight and saw her. Bought her a few hundred dollars in groceries today too /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif. And she's pretty excited to get the new light I got her. They will both be out of work for a while so hoping times won't be too tough for them. She has a community freshwater tank but has been eyeballing my LEDs for a while lol. She's been wanting moonlighting mostly. Now she will have it. I'll probly have to take care of her tank for a while til she's up and goin again...

I found one of the handles. Not sure why the other one wasn't with it. So that might be more difficult to find. But if you want to stop and pick up the rest of it, that's fine. I can let you know when I find the other handle.

Looks good. I'm glad the lid worked out for you. Did you end up cutting part of the class, or just getting a couple new pieces to fit?

No its funny because I took off the hinges and lf you separate the 2 pieces of glass the bigger section fits perfectly on a 55. Worked pretty good.
