I am lookig for an overflow box to put in my Non-Reef ready 55G. So, it needs to be over 250 GPH.

I have one but not sure of it's rating! It's yours if you want it. Can you get your 55 drilled or is that impossible? Hung at Sea of marvels does them or just go buy a new 55 from peco for. $55 and get it drilled. :)

Well I thought of getting a new one drilled but if I take the price of a new tank $55 plus drilling (guess) $20 plus the overflow black channel thinggie about $50-75 that would be minimum $125. where as a new overflow are about $60.

Then If I ever decide to upgrade to a 75 or 90G I could still use the overflow if it was not reef ready.

Yeah I get what your saying, but a drilled overflow trumps a HOB overflow every time. They are a pain in the butt. You have to create a vacuum for HOB overflow to work and make sure they don't get clogged or siphon stops . They are not the best solution unless you already have your tank set up. I would go with drilling a new tank. [IMG]

Over the top overflows are not that bad, maybee not as nifty as drilled, but they achieve the same goal

They do the same thing yes but in a different way. I used the a lot before reef ready in freshwater and I always had issues with them. Just my expectance.
I have one if you need it bill!

HOB if the siphon stops it's messy. Been there done that before . Drilled are all gravity and I highly recommend them, but not the only way to get the job done.

Kyle, i think I want to try the HOB and that will get me started with learning how the sump works and operates. Then as I understand it I will know how I want to get my system drilled, the coast to coast system is interesting to me. I figure there will be other dollar a gallon sales at petco or i may find a larger tank (I am thinking around 90) that I will want to upgrade to.

How much are you asking for yours? I am in no rush I am picking up a 30G tank at petco this weekend to start the build out.

    Thanx
