issues i have seen on this site

I think this got a little out of hand. I honestly do not see this happen. Granted I do not have time to read every post but the one time recently that it did happen was the led thread and like I said if some-one says become a member and I will come build your lights for you that is there right. I do not see questions by nonmembers only go unanswered. It is a public site and as I said it is NOT a club policy. I and I belive the majority of people on here help everyone with answering questions. Now as far as going to some-ones house and doing stuff for them, if they are a member or not may influnce my decision. We are really not badgering any-one for not paying 20 bucks. Use of the clubs property requires membership yes, it is not free for us to buy the equipment so we require you are a member to use it, I really do not see how that is wrong. Like I said if I knew how to program an apex I would have told you. I know Waverz has proramed peoples for them and he did tell you where to find your answer here. I just do not see all the times where non-members never get thier questions anxwered. Why would I make this up and get on here and sound like a jerk if I belived what I was saying was true just as you stated. And even after all this I would still help you and any-one else I could regardless of status.

Now for this thread. I am pretty sure that non members in this club get a lot of help nd answers to their questions. Do paying members get preferential treatment buy other paying members? Of course they do, I can not think of a single club where it would be any different and I am not sure what you would expect. You are welcome to use our resources, our forums, heck you even get to use the buy sell trade forums and we dont ask for a dime. Yet as soon as someone asks for help say putting together a diy led kit and a member is less then willing to spend the time to do this for a non member or loan a piece of equipment out to a non member you seem like its expected we should. I really do not understand any of this. membership of any club has it perks and preferred treatment from other members is just one of them.

 

Bottom line no one has shown a single thread that has went unanswered.

 

No offense here but if you want help, work on your grammar and punctuation when posting your questions. I am not biased at all when it comes to membership status. I love helping fellow reefers out especially when it comes to Apex programming. Your previous post along with this one are both very hard to read. If you don't believe me go back and read it out loud to yourself.
You mention your worried about your reputation, I find it odd that you come on our site and basically demand that we answer your questions. Whats that do for your reputation?
In order to keep this thread on topic I feel your opinion that the membership is biased toward non-members is a complete farce. I think you'll have a very hard time finding anyone who shares your opinion about this club.

Honestly I chime in (member or not) about issues I know about. I dont know **** about APEX or LEDS, so I dont even bother to read the threads. Now if you want to ask about refugiums, coral health, or fish breeding, I am your man.
Now that being said, I will go out of my way & go the extra mile if you are a club member. Why you ask? You get out of it what you put into it. If you just want to be a sponge on the site and take take take, then I have no time for you.   
Most of the people I see bitching NEVER offer advice to newbies or others looking for help. The people I see bitching are about me me me me me me. When you become a member, you show you care about more then just yourself.

 

And by the way

No one makes anyone come to this site.

If you dont want to be a part of the community (Paying member or not) then you can always take your happy *** to Reef Central.

If you are not part of the solution, then you are a part of the problem

 

Personally, I find this whole issue borderline ridiculous. If our worst "crime" is occasionally trying to encourage people to support the club by paying yearly dues, then I think I can live with that.

How often does this actually happen? 1 out of 50 threads maybe? Come on...

 

Im really starting to see some of our members that are usually very helpfull with everything starting to get a little agree. i complely agree as it is just a pitty party.

I'm just throwing in my 2 cents here... I'm not a member yet, but I still appreciate being able to come to a site that is for people in our area to all get together and help one another out. I agree that every club has its membership perks, that's just how it is.

I have seen subjects go unanswered on all sorts of the saltwater forums, reef2reef, reef central, nano reefs, and yes even here. So what! do some more research, maybe the question you're asking has already been answered. If all else fails, bump your question.. Or take it to another site...

We are lucky to have a site like this and clubs like this...

 

I know this isn't what you meant, but what the hell.. The only issue i have seen with this site was when Gonzo was having the live sell and it kept crashing... /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/biggrin.gif

 

Totally agree...bad grammer and run-on sentences. I get lost and it's not worth my trouble to try and figure out what they are asking. Happens alot actually.

 

When you take a free sample at Hyvee, do you complain about the portions?

 

Agree totally and I am sorry if sometimes my questions run into each other and my Grammer is bad. As for my sentences I know they all suck, but you all find the time to help me when i need it.

 

I agree 100% that it would help if you worked on your grammar, as far as getting your questions answered more quickly. I went back and read the apex thread you started, and I remember looking at it, even though I know nothing about APEX's. I recently bought a tank with one on it, and I've literally had my fingers on it for a total of maybe 45 seconds, just enough to figure out how to turn off the lights. That's it. So I wasn't going to just make a post even though I knew nothing about the question at hand. I also noticed that even after being completely rude, Waverz answered your question and helped you, and you continued to go down the road of downgrading the club. There is nobody here that has a gun to your head telling you to join the club. If you want to join, awesome, if not, awesome. Its just like anything, as stated before, you get what you put into it. If someone sits at home on the couch all day eating cheeseburgers and drinking beer, are they gonna look like their in the cast for the new Magic Mike movie? No. If you want to be a part of the forum and ask questions and advice from fellow reefers, great, that's what were all here for. But don't keep downgrading the club, website, and members, that are keeping this up and running.
