As some of you know, my tank overheated a few weeks ago, and killed almost everything. My fan has been running into the night and really annoying me, so today, I sat down and worked with the controller and finally figured out how to program it to turn off at the right time. I hadn't worried about this earlier because the fan has a thermostat that would ramp up the fan to high as needed and turn off when not needed. That isn't working so well anymore, so now the controller will take care of it. I also programed the lights to turn off at 83 degrees. That should be enough to keep the coral going should I ever get some more

. In working with all of this, I realized that I hadn't heard my chiller go on even though the tank was at 81.5. Hmmm. After a little sleuthing and replugging it into a wall outlet, I discovered that it was no longer working. The thermostat clicks on and off, but the compressor does not start. I suppose it burned itself out when the tank overheated, or the tank overheated because it was not doing its job. At any rate, I guess I might now be in the market for another chiller. Any suggestions?

There was a guy on RC in the DIY section who would field qustions about chiller issues. Maybe check it out and ask him. He seemed pretty knowlegable.

What kind do you have? I know nothing about them, but may wind up buying one myself.

Mine is a Universal Marine Industries chiller.

BTW, I found the guy on RC DIY, and he made some good suggestions. I'll have to see if I can carry them out.
