Over the last few months I have been experiencing a total melt down of my reef. Lost all my acros, montis, zoas, and half my LPS.
Water, flow, lights and everything else simply checked out fine yet I was experiencing massive amounts of cyano which led to me to believeĀ  phosphates. I then decided to start skimming wetter.
over the last few weeks I have started to notice an increase of growth of what remains of my now barren tank. Pallys have some new polyps, and my few lps are starting to form growth rings again.
Make a long story short it looks like things are starting to turn around in my tank and I guess the best way for me to look at it is I get to start over again collecting coral.

Sorry to hear about your troubles Mike! Did you test for nitrates and phosphate or just assuming? Cyano can be fueled things like high nutrients or bad RO water due to using exhausted filters.

Both were tested for Sone and i had a slight reading of nitrates and I couldn't trust the phosphate reading simple because I had some cyano.
The RO source is the conclusion.

Thanks for the generous offer Bill. I think I am going to wait till spring fest before I begin. Just to make sure things continue going in the right direction.

Too bad Mike :/ At least you know now and can fix it and start new. Reef keeping is certainly a learning experience.
