I have been stressing about my Midas Blennie jumping out of my tank ever since I got him. Three of four sides were protected by my canopy so if he jumped, he would maybe get caught on the lip but eventually flop back in. However, the back was still exposed and his favorite hidey-cave was along the top facing the back. Sooo...

plastic screen + velcro = Jumper Fish Stopper 2.0!! The latest and greatest way of preventing your favorite fish from hopping out of the tank to join the hungry three kitties that roam around.

I'm such a dork haha. Anyway, I feel much better now and thought it would be a neat little DIY thing to post. I'll get pictures up in a little bit

I don't remember if you have halides, but if you do I would be careful with the plastic screen and velcro. The sticky on the back of the velcro tends to kinf of melt under direct heat, especially.

Yep, I thought of that at first but the fans that I have installed into my canopy to an amazing job. When I put my hands in the canopy there's maybe only a 1 or 2 degree difference from outside the tank.

And does anybody know how to get the tool bar for posting (like adding links, pictures, and such) for mac's?? I don't have the toolbar anywhere when I make an advanced post.

Also, I can make paragraphs if I do a quick reply but not under an advanced post... are there any html codes I could just enter?? Isn't paragraph like
    ......
??? I'm not sure and haven't tried it yet.. I'll experiment in the mean time haha

Ha, someone said I deserved the dork award today for knowing what 'afk' meant, so I'm going to pass it along and say you get the award for the uber name /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif
How did I conclude that, because you gave it a VERSION!!! lol /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/biggrin.gif

Good idea though, I used egg crate with a screen hot glued to the top of it~
Velcro would definately be a good addition though!

well... sort of. I had rigged this last night initially with the sticky backside of the velcro stuck to the net, but woke up this morning and it had unstuck overnight. So I guess that could be 1.0. No casualties though /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif Then I switched it around so the bristly half of velcro is on the canopy/tank, then the screen is stuck into that, and then the soft velcro is mashed on there to hold it all in place. Vwala, 2.0 /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif

You're all a bunch of dorks, so its settled /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/tongue2.gif
Kylie, I see a little opening and of course, me being a worry wart, I see the little fish jumping up, hitting the screen, then falling right through that opening /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/cry.gif  I swear, if there's a way to get themselves in trouble, they'll find it!  Maybe you could sew it together with some fishing line or something?

What you're seeing isn't an opening. Trust me, there are no holes in this baby. In the first picture, what seems like a big opening going across is actually excess screen hanging from the top. I just didn't cut the screen the right height and so there is a ton of extra.
