I am trying to see if anyone would be interested in buying or trading for my snakes. I have two Colombian red tail boas and a Jungle Carpet python. I had these guys while I was in California but could not transfer them in our move (we took what fit in the back of the pick-up and the trunk/back seat of a Jetta and that was literally it). Some friends of mine have been caring for them for me since, but they are moving to Hawaii in December and cannot take them there (all snakes are banned in the state). As a result I will be taking them back, but I am extremely tight on space, and the lady in my life isn't terribly thrilled about another thing taking up more space (and snakes, no less!). I don't have pictures right now, but will be able to get them as we are driving down to visit family tomorrow (arriving Saturday). It has been nearly two years since I have had them with me, and at the time the boas were around 4-5 feet and the carpet was about 6 feet in length. Looking online, red tail babies go anywhere from $90-150 and carpets $150-250. Adults go for much more. I wouldn't be terribly worried about price (within reason of course), just that they are given a good home and are fed properly. It can get pretty expensive feeding these critters, and unless you are purchasing rats in bulk they can easily (collectively) eat $30-50 in rats monthly being fed 2-4 times a month. They are super tame, have never bitten anyone, and very easy to handle.
We will be leaving for our Road trip early tomorrow (5/14/10) morning and coming back (5/23/10). The safest way for these guys to travel is inside a pillow case in a cooler. I do have terrariums for them (I want to say those are 75g, but would really prefer not to bring them as we had other large items stored in Cali that we were planning on bringing with us. If I end up keeping them I would probably just plan to build something for them here as I would prefer a different sort of setup due to space restrictions. I do believe they currently have a ceramic heating element as well as under tank heating pad, which I would be bringing with me.
Let me know if you have any questions, my ability to respond in a timely manner over the next two days will be limited, but once we get to Cali I can answer any questions as well as will be providing some pics.

I thought I would add that I was told snakes over a certain length were illegal in Iowa. As far as I can tell, reticulated pythons, African rock pythons and anacondas were the only non-venomous snakes deemed illegal under state law. City and County ordinances may have different restrictions depending on where you are.
