Before you go accepting just anything you may want to look into the various beginner corals such as softies and consider whether or not you really want them in your tank. For example, anthilia, mushrooms, xenia, etc.

I know a lot of people that started off with these corals because they are considered beginner coral, and they overtook their tank.

That being said you may want to consider various zoos and cheap LPS corals. Both are easy to remove from your tank later on if you don't want them.

Listen to what PotRoast has said here. I have some anthelia in my tank that is a nuisance. I've tried and tried to get rid of it. It is a weed. If you have good light, you can probably grow a lot of different SPS corals.

I have fragged out a lot of Anthelia out of my tank. As a result, people silently curse me when they see my username. I know this because some have jokingly admitted it to me.

But Jim is right. Anthelia and Xenia will literally take over your tank.

Look at this video and keep in mind that 5 months or so before this, I took out most of the rock out and scraped and scrubbed ALL of the anthelia and xenia off the rocks. And I mean with a scrub brush.
