So I come home today to find my 6", fat, and healthy foxface laying dead on the sandbed. I've had the fish for 3+ years and it was perfectly healthy and eating fine up until last night, so I was kinda puzzled to what could have killed it. Sometimes if something would spook it it would dart behind the rock work really fast. Every now and then it would run into a digitata or something fragile and break a piece off. Well, after I took my eyes off the fish I looked and saw 2/3 of my purple mili colony had been broken of right at the base where it is a good 1/2 inch thick, and knocked behind the rocks. All I can figure is that in order to break that coral it got spooked and smacked into it so hard that it killed itself in the process.

I was able to save the coral. I just thought of all the ways a fish could die this has to be one of the more unusual ones. I don't think my clowns are too dissapointed though; now its just them and a mandarin for fish in a 90.

that is crazy. I wonder if he knocked himself unconcious and died. Too bad there wasn't a surgeon fish around. (drumroll.....crash)

I had a yellow tang do something similar about six months ago
I was watching the tank with just actinics on and when the halides popped on with the timer, he freaked and swam full tilt into the glass. It musta knocked him out, I was worried the hermits would start eating him so I took him out and put him in my qt but he never recovered
