Help!! Kessil A360 WE

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Boostedbolt, May 4, 2017.

  1. Does anyone have experience with these? Have one on a 50 gallon cube and a 28 gallon cube. Haven't had much growth in either....

We are running bluefish controllers. Was wondering if maybe it was the settings?

Here's the graph for the 28
Lights start ramping up at noon and turn off at 11:30pm

I kind of wonder if maybe it has to do with the ramping times? I left them at 90 is that to long?

How long has the kessil been on your tank and what are you growing?

  3. We have had these for a year + and basically everything. Gem zoas, to acro, acros eventually die. We have some frogspawns and brains corals that do okay. Nothing really grows tho. Or at least I think they grew faster with my stock hood. But the stock hood doesn't have the nice blues and cool shimmer effect.

  4. I read lots of good things about these lights and I have them on 2 tanks, I just feel like it's my settings as in I don't really understand this controller.

Have you ever checked your par levels?

  6. I have not, I don't have a meter and I tried to get on the list for the clubs but I never ended up getting it. Something about it being upgraded or something.

Are you sure it is lights? How is your nitrates , your settings are close to mine not sure on how long thou.... I have montis growing like weeds and green palys I have to isolate on rocks, armor of god grows good and softys , war coral is spreading on a rock and for sps tyree Bali and red planet is growing , I always go off my gonipora to tell if my water is doing ok

  9. The reason I think it's lights is because it's both tanks, water quality in both tanks are decent too.

  10. Might lights start at noon and turn all the way off at 11:30 pm. Midday they ramp up to 100

Tanks that shallow and ramping the 360s up to 100% sounds like your problem. Odds are you're frying your corals. The 360s are actually quite powerful and you need to check the PAR then adjust from there. I have 2 I use on my 110 for supplemental lighting. I don't even ramp them up to 100% on there.

  12. Even on the 50 gallon cube? You think 100 is to much?

I do, you will be surprised how much PAR they put out. How deep is your 50?

  14. Question that I have wondered since I have had these. If I have the blues all the way to 100 percent and the whites all the way down. Are the corals getting light? Would it be okay to keep the blues on all night or is that bad on the corals? Right now I have no lights at night

  15. I think it's 20 inches deep

All systems need a dark period. You will get mixed reviews on how many hours to have dark. I personally have 15 hours on and 9 off. My whites come on at 9 and my blues come on at noon. Whites kick off at 9PM and total darkness at midnight.

So I have the blues on at night so I can enjoy the tank and have all the coral colors show.

Yeah I would go down to 50-60% and see what happens. Well until you can get a par meter to test.

  18. I dialed them both down, thanks. I put a post again on the par meter checkout thread hopefully I can borrow it and get my readings.

    Thanks again for the help!
