Was wondering if anyone has used the 2w laser pointers to kill aeptasia. I've heard of it but don't know where to find a cheap one. Just need a good way to kill them got quite a few that popped up.

Have you tired any natural control? Peppermint shrimp or a copperband butterfly. I believe there are a few others as well that eat them. I've always had good luck with copperbands and is currently what I have.

There is a very good thread for this on Reef2reef. There are significant safety concerns with these lasers. Keep that in mind. People have blinded themselves, even when following safety procedures.

DONT!!! DOnt get a copper band. In my 20 some odd years of fish keeping and 15 or so of reefing (cause really reefs were crp 20 years ago...) I have NEVER seen a copper banded eat aptasia. and once you have one it will like for at least 150 years and eat EVERYTHING in your tank, fish shrimp snails They are Terrible additions... You can spot treat with Kalk, you can spot treat with H2O2 you can use lasers and peppermint shrimp ( which I have actively seen eating them) just dont get a copper banded without knowing that you will regret it.

Wait,,, unless you are talking about copperbanded butterfly fish. then thats totally cool. But you will probably have to spend some time special feeding them...

Yes copperband butterfly fish/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif and if you get one from LA divers den (not the regular fish section on the LA site) you won't have to worry about getting it to eat. They wean any that they sell there onto frozen foods before they will sell them. Their very hard to get though usually they sell within a couple of minuets of being posted to the site. Right at 5pm they don't add one everyday eiather. BTW what size tank is this going in?

Hey ShawnD just a tip, I noticed a lot of double-posts. What browser are you using? If you post and it doesn't look like it went through, be patient. If in doubt and you don't want to re-type everything, copy you text from the quick reply box then reload the page. If your reply is not there, then paste and submit again. If you're via App and it doesn't show the post, but it looks like it submitted it, then it did - you just have to refresh the page.
