Advice? LED Acclimation for temp change?

Is there generally any acclimation period needed when switching LED temp? For example, moving from 10k to 14k? I have a reverse superman monti that mostly bleached out within 3 days after I switched my Hydra's from 10k to 14k. As of now, it only seems like the original frag has bleached, the new growth on that has encrusted on the rock has always been a little pale, but hasn't changed much.

I also briefly upped the intensity from 60% to 65% for about 24 hours until I noticed the fading at which point I set it back to 60%. To me, 5% would be a safe increase especially since in the past I have ran these as high as 75%.

The only other recent change was adding another powerhead for flow which did change the flow direction a bit, but it seems to be about the same amount of flow hitting the monti as before.

Should I look elsewhere for my problem?

Any chance you have access to a PAR meter? It's possible the shift could have caused an issue... but not because of the spectrum shift alone. As long as PAR didn't jump significantly during that temp shift I would not expect there to be a problem. I would be interested to know how AI calibrates their intensities across color channels though. I imagine it would be difficult to dial these intensities in to be PAR equivalent across varying color spectrums.

That's odd. Usually it's other way around. I have only had problems going from 14k to 10k. I usually just decrease intensity and raise fixture Ann inch or 2.

I don't know about the hydra specifically but I had an AI Prime HD for a little while and it was very strong. I never used the HD part and even the regular settings would bleach an anemone I had out. I turned the light way down and turned on the acclimation feature but it looked like there almost was no light in the tank. Not sure if yours is the same situation.

Thanks, I didn't figure a temp change would equate into an overall par change, but I may have to borrow the par meter to be sure. Last time I checked par, I dialed my lights up to 65% intensity, but my spectrum was custom and not tied to a specific temp.

I noticed this morning that it was gaining a little color back so hopefully things are balancing out. This monti is usually the first thing to start losing color whenever I fiddle with my lights.

Unfortunately, I cannot raise the lights up higher since I am using the AI tank mount also. It is a fixed height. With the Hydras it is hard to imagine a scenario where I would ever use the HD functionality unless the tank was very tall. Overall, I am only using a fraction of the available power, this helps keep the power bill down though.

Thanks for all of the replies.
