LED vs T5 cost comparison

    I crunched the numbers on this....for me this is it what it comes down to....

    Based on 10 year life expectancy of LED's, I would save $301 - $375 per year using LED's. ($3000-$3800 over 10 years)

    I figured it would be more money actually but still this is quite a chunk of change. Most surprising was that the cost of six AI Vega units are $800 less than replacing x16 T5 bulbs in 10 years. (and that does not even consider the fact that T-5 ballasts fail....often)

    The big question really is will LED's actually last 10 years.....

    Supposedly there's a spreadsheet around here somewhere that allows you to punch in halide vs. LED cost to get the savings difference over a number of years. I heard that the savings over halides for LED was in the ballpark of $2500 over 5 years for a 125 gallon tank.
