Now that all the hype is over about that coral since it was found that its not rare you can get them fairly cheap. I know of a person that has it if your interested and it wont be a spire for an obscene amount of money like Steve was trying to sell

It is rare, sorry to say. The Leng Sy is a unique Monti, not only for the spires but also the purple edge is on top and undernieth the edge, usually a good 1-2" wide rim. If you have a friend that sells it cheap, I'm in Donny! Can he/you post a picture of it? I'd also like to know the lineage and when he purchased it. Thanks!

Original Leng Sy Purple Rim Cap

    Leng Si Cap

I can post more but there is plenty out there for $30. Caps will create spires under the right conditions and lighting

The leng si cap is just a purple rim cap and that is all.

I do like it but it is certainly not rare as Leng Si and Steve Tyree were called out on Facebook by several in the industry for claiming it was long lost super awesome cap.

    My red cap has spires

As I said, there is more to the Leng Sy then the spires. "Don't believe everything you read Donny." Go to the source(s). Hopefully my friend Cruz and /or Steve (or both) will provide some input. Also, what does xroads think, Craig? I doubt if Craig has had the Leng Sy on his bucket list just for a purple cap. Lol Cultivated Reef is showing a regular cap. Doesn't spell it Leng Sy which is correct spelling and says it's blue ! lmao!! You should know that people call similar corals by the wrong names, because they don't know any better, were told the wrong name or they're trying to get high dollar (make a buck off the unsuspecting/unknowledgeable). Everyday I see it on the forums/for sale threads. Highend this, high dollar that... Yeah, wrong! I'll put my money on my friends, Steve Tyree and Cruz Arias, as well as Mike Paletta, Leng himself, Julian, etc... over ones that cannot provide proof of lineage! Enuf said.

Theres a difference cruz has a colony in one of his tanks, he sold some of it awhile back to help leng with some medical expenses after he got ill. Craig i can get you in contact with him if you want the original with a signed lineage paperwork. As far as the naming game goes, its stupid! I get it if you have a coral thats unlike any other coral youve ever had in that species, but some of these people are naming crap just to name it, the sad and funny reality is, i honestly dont think that guys like cornbred really even know the corals real name, they just make up something and roll with it. I cant respect someone who takes a cali tort frag, 20 bucks, and renames it cornbreds super duper smooth blue berry muffin stag....and prices it at 150 bucks......what and why is this dude so amazing he can do this? Are people just that gullible? I like some of the stuff he has, but sometimes he comes off super desperate, like the night he tried selling ONE polyp, fresh glued.....come on, people use to have pride in there frags and in there hobby. These days people are making it a disgrace.

I really dont care about name or lineage or paperwork.

What I want is the cap that cups up like in the pictures instead of plates out like a normal cap. That and the purple, green combination.

I was hoping someone local had this bad *** colony

    Craig,
Julian at Seven Seas Aquatic Life in Illinois has the OG . He is selling the spires for $150. with the cap at $200/inch. He got it from Cruz since they were business partners at Elegant Corals. Cruz transferred ownership of the only true colony left since Leng lost his and others have not be verified.

@glaspie69@glaspie69 , you are so correct with what you said...named corals have a purpose but that's for another convo. lol

AE Leng Sy Purple Rim Montipora Tuberculosa on Facebook....

Which is the same concept as to what's going on here is it not? An original...of 2...colonies was lost and now the price is $200 per inch? $200 per inch because they have the "original " leng sy cap that no one else has? Do you have any idea how much of that cap floated around just the Orlando area when I was down there 8+ yrs ago...let alone the rest of the US? So....because only ONE can be "verified" as actual lineage and the rest can not let's just tack on a ridiculous price tag because people will pay it. And if you don't have the "original" it's not as good as my original. Hundreds of people have this cap around the states... so many that it's lost the lineage. Sounds no different to me than the example of funky re named corals we already have that have astronomical price tags. Craigs couldn't have said it better.... just looking for a "purple rim cap that spires and cups" ... no one cares about the lineage that was "LOST"

I wouldn't say that. If there was hundreds I would be able to find some easier.

I don't care about the name or lineage, I care about color and growth pattern which very very few seem to have.

Nobody that I have ever ordered from for highend stuff has ever given a certificate of authenticity. Julian and cruz had a big fight on Facebook with a bunch of other crap that happened. A spire is smaller then then the frags that are complained about being a nub lol that price is absolutely ridiculous.

Not all grow the same way Rich Veldman had one and it definitely didnt grow that way he got it from Cruz

It was found that there was a ton of them in california during the Facebook bashing of them 3 for selling it as a super duper rare un heard of comeback from the dead crap. It was quite funny

Don't people do this with zoas all the time? Maybe not the "lineage" part but the "super rare ultra cool" etc etc.?
