The topic of making our own saltwater has came up between my wife and I.  It is gaining interest with her for ease of water changes.  We get our saltwater from AE right now but she hates carrying in the jugs, lol.  I am all about bringing something new into the house to assist us in this aspect /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/biggrin.gif
I want to see some of your guys set ups and if theres anything you would do more/less or differently.

I just have my unit mounted above my washing machine as I use a T fitting on my cold water washing machine hookup for a water source. This is also a prime location because the drain for the washing machine is where my waste water line goes. From there you can run 1/8" flex line where ever you need. I used to have mine run from one end of the house to the other and to the basement. From there it went to a 35 gallon horizontal storage container that had a float valve installed along with an electrical solenoid hooked up to my ACIII for redundancy.

Mine is hooked up under my stairs. I just used a saddle mount and run the waste water to the drain in the basement.

Not a fan of saddle mounts.  They always seem to leak eventually, I think it has something to do with the hardness of the water and the rubber seals.

Those are 12v electric solenoid valves, they are attached to my RO and float switches in my sump. The 10g tank holds fresh RO water in it. When the water level in my sump starts to drop (due to evaporation) the float switch in the sump will turn on the solenoids to the 10g tank to top the sump back up with fresh RO water. When the 10g tank starts to run low of RO water, a float switch turns on the solenoids to the RO unit that will fill the 10g tank back up. I use dual solenoids in case one would stick open the other one will catch it. Plus I put in an over flow that runs to a drain just as a double safety.

I wish I could see this in person and have a full explanation. Great installation.

I was hoping you would post yours. Me,Gered, and Chris stopped by one time and it is one of the most clean and well thought out setups that I have seen.

Ok just thought I would bump this sense I finally got around to cleaning mine up and re-doing it with a larger storage container.  Water first enters into the pre-filter softening cartridge on the far left then runs through the pressure gauge and into the actual RO unit.  Finally it exits into a canister on the far right where I installed a new DI cartridge instead of the horizontal one that originally came with it.  I had dual DI running up until this point but decided to lose the horizontal as it probably needed replaced so for now I will stick with a single DI that I can re-pack when need be.  I also replaced my old inline TDS meter as it was acting funny but now I am wondering if it might just be the battery [IMG]
