I did do a search, but seemed to uncover mostly eastern Iowa locations.

Long story short, my kids + a basketball inside the house cracked a brand new $200 sump. Does anyone know a local source to buy weld on products and applicators? I got my RODI yesterday, so I would like to be plumbing and filling this weekend.

Anybody have personal experience on #3 vs #4 vs #16?

    Thanks for any help,

    Noah

Thanks for the help, but I found a place called Country Plastics in west Ames that has 3 & 16. Any idea which is better for a crack patch? I'll do some research, but thought I'd look for some opinion here.
    Thanks again.

Best person to ask about this is Turbo or Bud! Hopefully he can see this post and give his insight.

It depends on the nature of the crack. Generally, you need to 1) stop the potential progress of the crack by drilling a hole at the end of the crack, then 2) run the solvent in the crack as best as possible, then 3) weld on small path plates to either side of the crack.

If the crack has progressed through a joint, that could be bad, because it's hard to stop the crack from progressing.

Take some pics and post them and I can better tell you what you need to do.

But WO #3 is a better overall product. This is what I would use for step 2. WO 16 is really junk, but good from some applications. You could use this for Step 3 but it's not as good of a bond as using #3. In either case, when you weld on the patches, the surface needs to be flat (horizontal)

You can PM me your phone # and text me pics if you want

I went in to pick up some product today, and the guy at Country Plastics asked me to bring it in. He said that the jar he would sell me would patch 100 cracks, so he would just do it for me. We'll see how that comes out, but I thought it was a generous offer.

Thanks, and if doesn't work out I may be back in the market for #3.

Hat's off to Country Plastics in Ames. I brought the sump in, and they gave me an in depth tutorial on how fix it. They then cut some patch plates that would work on the "L" shaped crack, got me 4 oz's of their equivalent to Weld On 3, and an applicator. All for under $20. Nice people.
Thanks for the help from the board members here,
    Noah
