I wanted to get a few opinions on a lighting option for my 75g tank that I'm converting to a reef. I found a Metal Halide T5 combo on ebay and didn't know if anyone has had experience with it or something like it.

I'm looking to keep softies, sps, and clams.

    Here's the link:

    Thanks for your input!!

I'm looking at a max of about $300.00 but I would rather wait then get something that I would have to turn around and upgrade in the near future. Right now I'm keeping a 29g biocube with a Kessel 150w Ocean Blue light and I'm just running out of room.

Just to advise I purchased a odyssea t5 fixture and o ky lasted couple months before stopped working . May have just been the one I got but you do get what pay for. I personally would stay away from that brand.

I found this one as well. Same design but doesn't look like the same light.

Their same thing just different stickers or covers probly. Cheap chinese stuff. Good for someone who just wants to replace or fix them all the time. And do you really want that many cords to have control with timers? Honestly id buy some good led fixtures. Im a huge ai guy but i wont say others are bad. For the price though ai is the best bet. And with leds you dont need to replace bulbs. Youll have as much wrapped up in that cheap fixture and your first change of bulbs as you would quality led lights. Its a no brainer to me. Thats my 2 cents.

Reefbreeders photon 24 for bit over $300 and you won't go wrong. Even has near UV spectrum. That or save up for a razor.

I've done a lot of research on the odysea brand lights in the the month. It seems that the older models were very problematic but the new adv plus seems to be much better. Ihad a t-5 with a built in timer and it worked well. I just bought a mh, t-5 combo. I think they are a good light for the price.
