Advice? Lighting question

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Boostedbolt, May 30, 2016.

  1. Do you guys run lights 24/7? Right now I have at least my blues on overnight, should I have a completely dark period? I have a kessile.

Most people run 12 hrs MAX. On my tank, 2 blue come on at 9:30. The other 4 bulbs come on at 10:30. Those 4 bulbs go off at 8:30. The 2 blue go off at 9:30.

  3. Ah okay. I figured since the lights were blue and not white it didn't matter, but I was reading today that they actually do need a break. I was back and fourth what I was reading so I figured I would ask some members.

I run moonlights over the night period. I have kessils also and they start at 9 and end at 11 at night. My moonlights are a tiny fraction of light though compared to the lowest setting on the kessils.

I run low led light from 10 to 11 am. Then t5 on at 11 then halides on at 1. Then at 6p halides off then 9 t5 off and 930p led off. Dark until 10a next day.

I run my blue lights 14 hrs a day and my whites 6 hrs a day. Moon lights at night.
