I am looking to "up" the lighting on my tank, the Fluval Edge.  I've looked at LED lights, smaller T5 or small PC.  I'd like to do an LED retrofit in the hood, but I have zero experience in retrofitting or electrical work.  A t5 or pc would just sit on top of the top, which doesn't bother me too much.  So now for the questions.
Any electricians that can quote me on an LED retro?
Is a 36w t5 or PC light too much for a 6 gallon?
    And would this http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produ...atid=18485 work?
I'd would like my lighting to be able to suffice for most corals.  I just want options.  Thanks.

Can't help you with the LED prices, but I have 60 watts of PC on my 10g and I could go with more if I wanted. I don't think you will have any trouble with the T5s if you chose to go with those.

Here is a very detailed tutorial for DIY LEDs that you can go and price out the parts, even if you don;t necessarily trust yourself to build it.

And here us an equally good write up for a DIY LED driver.
