We have three Volitan Lionfish that we have had for almost two months. They are about 6 inches long or so. They are in the big frag tank & they are making Jeremy nervous when he is fragging as they are starting to get friendly. Normal price $80 Now on sale for $50 ea. Anemones, Clowns, & Corals
I killed 15 of those lion fish in Costa Rica last year. It was crazy fun. I had a tiny dart gun and actually got two free dives for my efforts!
Sounds fun, can I borrow the dart gun? /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/tongue.gif
There was an article online telling how the folks along the gulf coast and eastern seaboard are taking a new approach to controlling the growing lionfish population. They are promoting them as the new taste treat in all the seafood restaurants. If ya can't beat 'em, eat 'em!
I just think it's funny that you're keeping them in a frag tank where your employees have to reach in for stuff. That's just an accident waiting to happen! lol I used to think that they only used their spines defensively in case they were preyed upon by some piscivore but then I got one cornered one day with the gravel vac while I was doing a water change and he put his head down and thrusted his dorsal spines at the siphon tube in a very clear offensive attack on it! I was really caught off guard, I was just trying to get him to move!
Well at the time, there was hardly any corals in that tank, that is why I threw them in there. Awesome pic, I will have to have you start coming up & taking pics for me!
Already way ahead of ya there! lol John was a little apprehensive about allowing me to snap pictures in the store, I assured him I was only using them for showing the club what an awesome place you've got! I didn't even bust out my macro lens, I'd love to come up and really shoot the place up. I did a photo shoot for Bill a while back and made him a little portfolio on my flickr page: Bill's Reef I could do a similar shoot for you, but it looks like you guys are in the middle of a big project right now (probably always right?) But I'll like to shoot up there again sometime and see all of that when it's done. You might let John know ahead of time that it's cool lol.
Hmm. Three of them would look good in the restaraunt tank although its kind of against the way Im heading with it. Ill have to think about it.
I switch it up, I have a Nikon D300 and a Nikon D90 (does video). The D90 took a swim in the ocean....literally! and 350 bucks later it works like a charm!!! Amazing. I have 4 different lenses, 18-105 3.5/f AF-VR Nikon, 70-300 4/f AF-VR Nikon, 90mm 2.8/f AF Micro Nikkor, and a 200-500mm 5/f AF Nikon. I really want an 11-24 1.8/f Tamron!
