One other point in that while multiple vendors are sourcing the same basic Evervrow fixtures there are some differences. For example, reefbreeders come with a 2 year warranty and ocean revive with a 1more year warranty. The bulb configurations also vary between these 2 vendors. We have 4 RB value fixtures on our 210main in-wall, 1 OR value fixture over our frag section and 4 RB photon 32's for our 280meeting (waiting to be mounted).

I noticed the difference in warranty - most on eBay are 1 year and I'm watching sellers that say they'll do warranty work in the States versus shipping to China. Reef Radiance claims to do work in house and have a 14 day gurantee on turn around time for warranty repairs. Overall these companies are $50 - $100 more for 2 fixtures.

I have noticed there seems to be subtle differences in the lamp configurations as well as the optics.

Speaking of optics - I don't really know what's best as I don't want the "disco ball" or "banding effect in my tank.

And possibly upgradeability/repairability. This is a big reason why I went with AI.

I have had 2 reef breeder photons for almost a year and a value fixture from them for over a year. I think they are amazing. The only issue I have ever had was one of the remote controls stopped working. I honestly didn't need the second one but I contacted Reef Breeders and had a new one in 2 days. That is customer service!

Whether or not you can get these other places I would highly recommend going through them for the customer service alone. They also have pretty active communities in the various boards and Logan at RB is always great giving feedback.

My bubble tip anemone's have doubled in size and love them and I am only running at 50%. Most corals are doing great as well though I struggle a bit with zoo's and mushrooms but I don't think that is really about the light as much as my diamond goby constantly moving them around the tank.

From what I know optics are to focus the light so you don't have spillover and wasted light. I don't think they are to combat disco effect, that is more LED layout. That being said even with my value fixtures being about 1.5" over my tank I don't notice any disco at all.

Ordered my led's last week they are the ajm led, from what I can tell they are the same as the reef breeders. Anything has to be better than the 2 bulb t5 I have right now all my corals are right on top of the lr to get them to survive. hopefully they will be here before the holiday !!!!

Eric - I have a 6 bulb T5 fixture over my 75 gallon DT. Didn't get around to sending you pics - but it has 4 ATI Blue Plus, 1 Purple Plus, and 1 GE6500. I have had it 4 1/2 years. It has always served me well. Color was nice and I've had tremendous growth.

I just recently switched to the Reefbreeder's value fixture for my Frag tank. It has a 2 bulb T5 set-up - but not enough Par to grow anything but softies and maybe a few LPS. I like the Reefbreeder's on the tank - though I am still 'tuning' it.

My bulbs on the DT will need to be replaced within a few months, and I will be having to decide whether to replace the bulbs or go with an LED fixture. Leaning toward the LED fixture......

Last week, I toured the Cree factory in Racine, WI. I was there for commercial lighting related to my job, but I have to say that I definitely understand the differences between Cree and virtually all other manufacturers. I may write this up one day but essentially but what you need to know is that their chip manufacturing process cannot be matched. This leads to a more robust product in all aspects. Go cheap, get cheap. You do indeed get what you pay for with Cree. It totally flipped my opinion off of Philips. Of course Cree does not make a deep red (and has no desire to) so Philips it is for that.
The other aspect of LED is no UV component, which you have with T5HO/MH. This does matter. You will start seeing fixtures with ultra-deep violet UV being used more often.

    Thanks for the information Bud!

I'm sure a complete write up of the differences between Cree and other manufacturers would be informational. I'm starting to see combo fixtures (LED + T5) and that seems like the best of both worlds.

In this thread I'm specifically seeking feedback from users of these lights (which seems to be positive) and don't want this to turn into one of the dozens of threads comparing different manufacturers.
