Hey all, im picking up a red ear slider and hes in rough shape. Im looking to see if anyone has any supplies they wanna unload. I need an internal filter for less than 40 gall. I may pick up a 40 breeder for his home. The student he belongs to is afraid hell die without proper care. Classroom pets are not good if noone can care for the pet. He has no heater or heat lamp and just a small 20 long for a tank. I told her i wouldnt let him die. So if uve got anything let me know. Thanks!

If you agreed to take in the animal shouldn't you have already been prepared to care for it??
I mean I like that you are trying to help, but trying to rush setting up the proper equipment doesn't seem like the best move.

It has everything. But hes cramped in a 20 long. Ive got what he "needs" but now i want to make him comfortable. Thinking of doin my 75 into a turtle haven. I may run the halides on it for supplemental heating. Sand bottom and im going to attempt to plant the tank. If i can get enough up front he shouldnt eat them all. Ive read that in a bug enough tank cichlids and cat fish can be kept with sliders. Id like a heavy planted tank if he doesnt mow em over. Im going to attempt to feed him romaine and feeder shrimp to beef him up. Ive been reading up a bit. My biggest thing is a dock. I want to try and make one attatched between the overflows. Either way hell be better off with proper food and equipment.

I have an extra heater for water. A dual heat light but they dont. So when he comes home ill put everything on the tank. The 75 will be drilled and have a sump so itll be a bigger setup

I never asked for anything for free. I merely asked if anyone had anything they wanted to get rid of. I figured freshwater may ne a little odd to look for on a reef site. But if thats how u all feel then see ya on the flip side. Ive had a good run the last few months stayin out of trouble but i guess my time is runnin short. My membership is up next Wednesday and i dont believe ill renew. Thanks to all that have seemed to help me and be cool towards me. I guess ill go for online stuff since im suuuch a bother to the local guys.

Lmfao.... gonna have to say I 100% agree give it to a pet store. It will get more attention ect there... then you will have money for your Hobby... didn't you have heating issues before with your small tank that was down in your basement because you had no room for it upstairs? That turtle tank will have the same issues if it's in your basement js

Heating issue was due to a faulty heater. But i wont bother anyone with my problems. I never saw myself as a bother here. Sorry if anyone has gotten irritated. My biocube is pretty much were i want it so i just enjoy that. Im missing freshwater so thats what i wanna focus on next.

I dont think he is causing drama nor did he mean for you not to stay in the club. What I was just saying is that you should give it to a pet store.. but you want to get into fresh to hey that's cool I like fresh water fish to.... hopefully they won't be to cold in your basement. ... I'm not familiar with planted tanks with halides they probably will have to be acclimated to that light that's crazy strong... gl with the build.....

Thanks. Ive seen a couple people run them. But those were PLANTED tanks. Expensive high dollar stuff. I like the idea because of heat. The turtle would feel like he was at the beach. Haha

I have a painted turtle in a 20 long. I siliconed a shelf into one end with substrate, and used modle airplane hinges to attach a zoomed turtle dock so he can get up and down easy. he has lived in this tank for 7 years with no issues.
I have pics if you are interested.
