Thanks for all the input about the RO system. As it looks and to keep it very simple, I am going to take AWI up on the 1st quarter special with their drinking water RO system and get another 5 stage for the basement without needing to run any lines through the floor. I am still looking for storage tanks though. Anyone have any leads?

Well, I just ordered my unit. I ended up getting the Hurricane Dual Home/Reef with Permeate Pump & Tank. They upgraded me to the 3.3g tank b/c they were out of stock on the 2.2g (Yeah!) plus with membership discount, it paid for shipping. I guess I need to get my renewal in soon, huh? So I am excited. Should be here by Monday! My wife will be happy as well in getting her some good fresh water in her refrigerator that has never been hooked up do to such bad water from our well. Thanks for al your input and will keep this going as the project resumes.

I am still looking for some water containers as well.

So are they going to do anything to make sure that your refrigerator maintains pressure while you make water for your tank?

What it sounded like was the Huricane unit has its own aux pump that will maintain pressure to the fridge and a valve built in that splits for that purpose. The nice thinkg about this unit, as I expect before actually seeing it, is that it will be under the counter for our daily stuff and I will only have to put a hole in the floor of the cabinet to allow a hose to drop down and fill my storage tank below. I ordered an additional float valve to create an automatic shut-off just in case I wasn't around. the next thing is to make up a premix tub as well. So again if anyone has a lead on water tanks, preferrably 30-55g, let me know.

You're right...it will split it between your refrigerator and your RO/DI storage tank, but unless they changed the design of this system and implemented something different, the problem I mentioned in my posts will exist. This is the same unit that I have. Let us know how everything turns out. It is a nice system...does a nice job...just wish I could figure out a way around that refrigerator pressure situation.

I ask them bout this and they said that it has an added auxillary pump to maintain pressure for modern ice makers. SOunds like they have ran into that issue before. Plus an extra bonus is that they upgraded me to the 3.3 storage tank which will give a constant pressure as well due to the displacement.

So they modified it from the package listed? I wonder if the permeate pump is the auxiliary pump they are referring to. Maybe I'll call them and see what I can find out.
