Does anyone have a small sump for sale in the des moines area? I have a 90 gallon corner tank and my sump had one of the seams separate which flooded my stand:(

    Thanks!

It's really easy to make one out of an extra tank and some window glass for baffles.

Drilling a glass tank is pretty easy, but assembling one from scratch? I've never done it before, though I do have 4 of the 5 pieces from a cracked 40B. Not sure I would call it easy, I guess once you learn it though, it might be. More of an art form, like woodworking or acrylic tank building.

@vikubz@vikubz have you built a glass tank from scrap pieces before?

I have an Oceanic Model 1 Sump. Would that fit your needs?

Why do you have to drill anything? You just use the glass to make chambers, highest at one end, lowest at the other where your return pump goes. Lots of examples on line, just google DIY sump. Highly customizeable.

I have an Iwaki pump that is non submersible so i think i need a hole on the front to suck water into my pump to shoot it up into my tank. That is how my old one was set up anyways

If you want to stick with the same pump then yes you would want to drill a hole low enough so the pump stays filled with water and doesn't loose prime when it gets shut off. There are a lot of good options out there for submersible pumps that you could switch too, but that's more cost. You shouldn't have a problem finding some help drilling a glass tank if you need go that route for your sump.

I bought some acrylic weld and some square acrylic rods. I re-sealed the seam and then acrylic welded the rods in the corner. It may have been pretty dumb but it is holding water so far! Thanks everyone who responded! No one had a drilled on with my weird shape but I did get a ton of responses! This board rocks!!!!
