Now that I have purchased my 90gl tank...looking for some input as to what I should use.
I do know I am going to use an overflow system, but what are some good lights...refugium, filtration and sump?
if this was freshwater I would be fine lol but man so much to learn!!!!!!![IMG]

Lights: Depends entirely on your goals. LED's are the lights of the future, but they are still pricey unless you want to build them your self.

Refugium/Sump: The best ones are the ones you make yourself.

Filtration: Live rock is almost always the primary form of filtration and should be your starting point.

Overflow: If you mean a hang on the back overflow, I'd think twice about it (unless you like cleaning up wet floors). Drilling is the way to go...

LOL a properly set up sump/tank with a hob overflow is impossible to flood a floor. Jeez.[IMG]

Don't be intimidated by drilling a few holes if you are wanting to go with something other than an hob overflow. You will need to find out from the MFG if the tank you have is tempered or not though. After that, a few holes and bulkheads, a sump, a pump, a little pvc and away you go. Do you have a stand to build on/in, or what are your other plans to hide the real business?

Ill know more about the tank when I pick it up on tursday..I would rather hide all the real business underneath so there isnt anything taking away from the real beauty of that i am helping create..so if I can get it drilled I would rather go that way.!

i spoke with AE today when I was there picking up my new equipment and they will drill it for you for $40 a hole. My bet is you can hook up with the guys in your area and get it done for free. And then work on building your sump.

Oh yeah you should look into a RODI unit. tap water even conditioned will cause algae issues. That is something you want to do your best to avoid at all cost.

I have a couple glasshole saws, but the size you desire might be an issue. You need to decide on a return pump, and the bulkhead number/size you are going to use if drilling. We can get together on drilling, I've done mine, and it went smooth. But as stated, try to figure out your layout first, you can go from there.
