The $110 price for full access MACNA passes expired yesterday and we had a great run of registrations in the last couple of weeks.    So far we've had people register to attend from all over the world, including as far away as Saudi Arabia.    All things considered, we are on track to have a really great MACNA.
It's a very rare opportunity for us to have an event like this right here in Iowa.   I would encourage everyone to try and make it, even if it's only for a single day.  I attended MACNA last year and I found that it really re-energized my interest in the hobby.
And just a reminder that for club members, there are special prices available for full access passes as well as opportunities to help with the event and attend for free.   Be sure to check out the club business forum for more info.

No, there are currently no discounts for single day passes, though a member willing to work a 4 hour shift at the event would get it for almost free.

When there is a discount for a single day pass for club members considering I cant go all day long and considering for 3 days for everything is the price that it is I would think that $20 for a one day pass to the floor would be fair to members just saying...... So count me in if that ever happens......

Here is a link to the guys tank from Saudi Arabia I signed up today. Guy is pretty jazzed about coming to Iowa to MACNA. He said it is almost impossible to get SW stuff there.

Also talked to a woman from Mexico who is planning on making the trip. I guess it is true that if you build it, they will come.

Not really interested in having this discussion with you (again) but let me break it down for you one more time....
If you want to get into MACNA for a $20, you can...   It's super easy.    Counting tear down and setup, there are 5 full days of opportunity to get your discount.   Find 3 hours during those 5 entire days to help the club that you are a member of and you will get in at a club discount of rate $20.   Help for a couple more hours and you get in free.
If you're unwilling to help your club, then you either pay the normal rate or you miss out.

Man, do you have to soil every MACNA thread with your negativity?

Probably because the person who was supposed to be leading that committee backed out and that thread got lost in the transition.   There are a bunch of other threads in that forum directing people how to help, including the pinned one at the top of the forum entitled "MACNA Planners/Helpers - PLEASE READ ASAP!" that directs volunteers on how to stay in the communications loop.
If you're just looking to start another fight, then please don't bother.   I'm not interested.   Either go, don't go, help, don't help.   It really doesn't matter to us at this point.

Maybe it's all of your comments implying that the pricing model is somehow unfair to members?   Yes as someone who's spent hundreds of hours working on MACNA, I do take exception to those type of comments.  No I don't appreciate people trying to undermine our efforts (especially club members who will likely benefit from a successful MACNA).  The truth of the matter is that any member can get into MACNA 2011 entirely free, but they have to be willing to help at the event for a short amount of time.     I don't think that is too much to ask, nor do I think that anyone who cares about the club would think it's too much to ask.

As far as the price for a 1 day pass goes. It really is not out of line if you consider all the vendors you would normally order from plus some you never knew existed are going to be there for you to buy from. Now lets just say you were to order something online from just 1 of them, your shipping would be right around the same cost as the 1 day pass. so imo it is a bargain.

One important thing I want to point out is that MACNA isn't really about buying stuff. Yes, there will be lots of coral for sale, and some vendors will have items for sale and there will be some great deals to be had. However, MACNA is really an opportunity to learn first hand what's going on in the hobby. Many of the vendors will be there to show off their newest or upcoming products and to talk to people like ourselves about our wants and needs.

I just don't want to give the impression that MACNA is a big shopping fest, because it's really not that at all.
