Ok, this is it everyone.   MACNA week is here at last!
Here's a quick update on some of the going's on:

Some of the team is already in Des Moines this weekend preparing badges, raffle boxes, RO, etc.
I am currently working on updating the volunteer schedule (should have it posted tonight or tomorrow so check the MACNA forum in the club members section)
The raffle is currently sitting at almost $60K and we expect to get another $15K donated at the show including a load of stuff from ORA & Kent.
The registration desk will be open on Thursday for attendees if you want to stop by ahead of time to get your passes, swag bag, etc.

They will be giving away an iPad every day at the Thrive booth, so don't forget to stop by, chat with them and register!
Brett from the show "Tanked" will be on hand in the Marine Geek booth to answer questions about the show (not sure about the hours).   We know that there is a big debate about "Tanked", so no matter what your opinion, we ask that you keep it Civil (this means you ANDY!)
If you skip the banquet don't talk to anyone who went or you'll regret missing it...   Just say'n... /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/wink.gif
We have people coming to MACNA from all over the world (India, Saudi Arabia, Australia, France, etc.)  It would be a shame to miss it just because you don't want to drive an hour or two to Des Moines...
There's probably more but I need to get back to work!

Doors open up at 11am for the general public.   If you are a MASNA member, you can get in at 9:30.     MASNA will have a booth right outside of the trade show floor if you are interested in joining (it's $20 a year).

This may be a silly question, but I've never attended an event like this, and I'm not even sure if I can swing it this weekend. (This weekend is a local dog show at the fairgrounds as well, but hoping to get a break to run over) Will there be any of the vendors (ORA, Sustainable Aquatics) selling fish, or just corals?

    Thanks for the information, Pam

I haven't been on the boards in awhile. Tank is still up, and fish are all well.

Corals are a certainty. Clams too I would guess. Not so sure about fish. It just depends on what the vendors bring.

Activity on the show floor has officially kicked into high gear! Vendors are starting to arrive and setup and the registration team is getting the process down.

We've posted a few pics to our facebook page:

Hey JB. You mentions that the doors open to the public at 11:00 am.  The MACNA schedule says the Jim Stimes speaks at 10:00. Is that not open to the public? One of the reasons I am coming.

    Thanks

Ah, yes. The speakers are in a separate room from the trade show floor. When I said 11am, I was referring to the trade show floor only. You can get your badges and attend the first speaker session earlier.

Just be sure to allow enough time to pick up your badge.

Thanks. So they sell fish and coral? and are the prices cheaper than buying it at a LFS?

There will be boat loads of coral. Probably not many fish.

Prices will vary by vendor, but there should be many good deals.
