For those who have attended or seen Anthony's talk.   I did some digging and thought I would share.  He spoke on the black magnesium calcite sand he used (in conjunction of sand bed critters that won't stir it up a lot) I am VERY close to doing this as a magnesium buffer in my remote deep sand bed...
I have put in a question to Randy Holmes-Farley for clarification and opinion
    First.

for his post on the matter.
    The product is here

but a better? version of it here....

BUT regardless of $20 a bag, this looks really attractive to reduce the number of times I have to dose my magnesium brew...
    THoughts?

The chemistry guys at RC strongly believe that sand does nothing to buffer your system. I have read through many threads in there where the user names "randy Holmes Farley" always shoots down the buffer statement. Don't get me wrong, he does it in a nice way, but he basically says that sand has NO buffering value whatsoever. Personally, I feel too many people take his advice as if it were that of God. Anthony, on the other hand, said that he EXPERIENCE showed otherwise. He mentioned that he never has to worry about Mg dosing in the system in question. My question is that if it DOESN'T buffer, what magic does Anthony have in his tank that HE doesn't even know about /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/wink.gif
