I don't know if any of you make your own food but it's real simple and more important (to me anyway) very cost effective. There quite a few different recipes out there on thel net. The one I used as a template came from http://www.thereeftank.com/forums/f...54722.html but I modified to better suite my needs and budget.
    Mine is:
    From Hyvee meat department
    1/2 # of raw shrimp
    1/2 # of live clams
    1/2 # of scallops
    1/2 # of mussel
1 filet of whatever fresh ocean going fish Hyvee has at the time of purchase
    From the Asian Market
1/2 # of squid or octopus
    2 full sheets of Nori
Most recipes call for Super Selco and a liquid Vitamin Supplement but the selco can be difficult to find and is expensive. IMO you can (and I do) substitute both with any of the OmegaOne flake foods.
Crumble Nori and put it, flake food and algae tabs into bowl. Cover with just enough r/o water to get it soaking.
Peel the shrimp and open the clams. Remove clam meat.
Skin the fish fillet but try to leave some of the natural fat if any. Cut into chunks.
Cut squid (or octopus) into chunks.
Put all seafood into strainer and rinse with r/o water
Drain excess water off of nori and add seafood to bowl.
Now you can use a food processor or blender to puree the mixture. I use one of those ToastMaster 2 speed hand blenders. Don't over do the blending though, try for a consistency of varying sized particles.
The seafood should have provided more than enough water to keep your food from getting to pasty but if not thin it out a bit with r/o water. You should be able to dip a spoon into the mixture and only see bits of food stuck to it.
Fill ziploc sandwich bags about 1/4 full, flatten out mixture, seal and freeze.
After the food is froze solid I vacuum seal it to keep it from freezer burning but if you can't do this just modify the amounts to make a months supply at a time. This recipe makes enough for about 4 bags and should last at least 2 months depending on amount and number of times you feed per day.
I also buy a clove of fresh garlic while at Hyvee. After I make my food I peel and mince the garlic. Then I put it into a plastic drinking cup and fill the cup about half full of r/o water. I use my blender to puree the garlic into as close to a pure liquid form as I can. I strain the liquid garlic into a small squeeze bottle and put it in the fridge. At feeding time I break off the amount of food I am going to use and put it in a small dish with a little r/o. I add 7-10 drops of the pure garlic and let it soak for about 15 min. then pour off most of the water and dump the contents directly into my DT in a high flow area. Fish, inverts and even a couple of my LPS fed in one shot. I culture phyto and rotiffers so that is the reason there is no cyclopeez in my recipe. For those of you with SPS that do not culture your own you can add 1"-2" squeeze of cyclopeez to the recipe and feed them as well.[IMG]

Thanks - looks like a good recipe. This should go in the DIY Food section of the club Wiki....although I don't know how that's done.
