For Sale Massive Clam

    I was told it is a derasa clam. It is about the size of a football. Biggest clam I've ever seen. $500 obo.

    That's not T. derasa as they lack pronounced scutes and the incurrent siphon would have a frilly margin.

    You'd need better photos of the foot, incurrent and excurrent siphons, and overall shell morphology to be able to tell.

    Squamosa, the shell and size are consistent with that species. Of course more detailed pics would help, but 99% it's a squammys. Maximas that size are pretty much unheard of although possible. I love squamosa clams. Great score!

    Just out of curiosity, approximately how long does it take a clam to grow to the size of a football?
