Sorry folks, it's been a long time coming, but I think I finally got my **** together! (personal crap) I'd like to apologize for the delay. What do you guys say we get the fam back together for a great big meet!?
    When: Sunday June 17th 1300-1700
    Where: North Liberty Community Center
What: Sand bed biology and natural filter systems
Why: Because it's about damn time!
We will also demo a how to on building a turf scrubber using a crappy little acrylic thinggy I've got. This talk is going to be all about turf scrubbers, refugiums, deep sandbeds, plenum filters, and the micro and meio fauna that grown in them.
If anybody wants some free green Damicornis pocillapora, or red Montipora capricornis I'm bringing some to smash up at the meeting.
I'll bring a finger sandwich platter, anybody want to elect to bring some chips or pop?
There will be a thorough discussion in more plain terms and how we can apply these principals to aquarium management. For a more technical perspective, I've got a pretty awesome discussion lined up, here's a teaser:
"To most people, biodiversity is a topic of ubiquitous mention and ambiguous significance throughout the news and natural environment. Many people, even scientists, fail to grasp what it indicates, let alone how it can be measured, and most have a tenancy to gloss over the relevant importance of this biometric. Essentially it is a crude measurement of the complexity of a food web. If your somebody who has a general interest in nutrient export, and I think we all do, then the function and structure of the food web within your aquarium is critically important, and you might not even realize what a pivotal role it plays.

Fortunately, due to the increasing popularity of biopellets and bacterial driven systems, biodiversity has found a new place in the conscious mind of the aquarium community. At the turn of the century there was a concentrated effort by many authors and biologists to bring natural filters into vogue with the reef aquarium hobby in order to promote conservation, ecology, biodiversity, and awareness among reef keepers. Then, their efforts fell short but for all of a handful of nerds and biologists, but now, since a number of us have tried bacterially driven systems with mixed results there is a resurgence of interest in natural filtration, and subsequently, biodiversity."

I can host at my house the 21-22 of july. Otherwhys i agree with not having it on fathers day. this may give more people time to schedule in advance plus I have two refugiums setup on my tank so I'm all about natural filtration.

by all means if it needs to go sooner get er done, i have 12 weddings this summer, I'm so full of joy I can hardly contain it....not.

Okay guys, the NLCC is booked up the week prior to the 17th, so that means we're pushing it back to the 24th.
