I am in the middle of a move and as a result I had to break down my tank yesterday evening for the relocation.

As I am doing so, once I get to the back of the tank (BC29) I notice that the two large, healthy clumps of chaeto I had back there have seemingly disappeared. Two weeks ago (the last time I pulled the InTank basket out) they were happy and healthy, now there was perhaps a few strands of translucent chaeto remaining in the refugium.

My water params are solid, the chaeto wasn't exposed to air for a prolonged time as a result of water evaporation...I'm at a loss as to what could have caused this.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

Did the light go out or get unplugged?

Nope, light should not have been an issue. It was growing under the LED I have just fine for the ~year I've had chaeto back there. The light position, intensity, or duration has not been altered for many months.

That's why this is so baffling. POOF! No more chaeto. I'm just left scratching my head trying to figure out what I did wrong so it doesn't happen again.

Well I had just started my tank and I had my light on a 24/7 light cycle and it was really green. Then I decided to turn the lights on 12 on 12 off I had it that way for 2 days and noticed that it started to turn clear and would break off. So I switched back to 24/7 light cycle about 4 days ago and now it looks amazing. So idk maybe it just didn't get enough light and started to die? Just my experience
