metal halide lighting

    [​IMG] Well i want to switch from 4 bulb t5 to 250 watt metal halide but i want to know will my electric bill be alot higher or just a litle. I want to run them 9 hours then off. Im also want to go with t5 actnic and 10,000 k. Can someone help me out with this thx.

    I honestly dont think you will see much of an increase.

    i forgot to mention i will need 2 of the 250 wat metal halide...I have a 75gal tank. Would it be a difference now with 2?

    sure but I run 2 150watt mh and 4 t5 on my 90 and i honestly don't see a notable difference

    i run 2 400s and dont notice much a difference

    I just went upgraded my lighting from 4 t5s to a 2x250 halides and 4 t5 fixture and my electric bill jumped about 40 I'm guessing. But a plus my 300 watt heater doesn't have to work as hard. I also have a 75.

    Why not switch to LED instead? All of the benefits of Metal Halide and a lower electric bill. There's a bit more upfront costs involved, but they can pay for themselves rapidly when you take bulb costs into account...
