My peppermint shrimp molted a few times now and was wondering if I pull it out or let it stay in the tank.

In my freshwater tanks I used to keep the molts in there........was hoping it is same in salt as I have been leaving them in

    Thanks

If you've got a good CUC just leave it in. I typically leave it in...unless it's in a breeding tank which is pretty bare and then I just scoop it out and toss it in another tank that has a good crew. /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/wink.gif

HA I did something similar, one morning I counted 4 pairs of feelers when I only had 3 shrimp. Babies! /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif Nope just an extra whole body without the guts.

First time I saw an emerald crab's molt I was convinced he was dead. Anyways I only take them out when they are in a powerhead or on a coral.

I should elaborate, peperment shrimp are small and not too bad. Cleaner shrimp get large and their molts can go all over the place. They breakdown eventually but you'll get remnants everywhere with high water movement. Its how much of a nuscance you find it to be is how I'd recommend you handle it

I leave them in. Depending on the time of day they molt I might occasionally find a mostly intact molt but usually there are only bits and pieces left by the time I find them.

It's always fun when my lights turn on the morning and I see an intact molt from my peppermint shrimp hanging out somewhere in the tank.

I leave them in. They're gone in a day or two. I've got a pretty good CUC.

I've never seen my emerald crab's molt...

Far thicker than a shrimp's. Definitely mirror image
